Recycling Department

The Recycling Department administers the recycling contract with WeCare Waste & Recycling Services, LLC for the operation of the State Mandated Recycling Program in Seneca County. The responsibilities of the Recycling Department are to provide education to the taxpayers of Seneca County to maximize participation in the program and to encourage reuse of recyclable materials. The department maintains records of materials collected and is charged with the duty of receiving complaints and rectifying the problems with the contractor in a timely fashion to assure regular and routine recycling pickup is completed. Blue bins and recycling guides are purchased by the department and distributed to participants in the Recycling Program.

Electronics Recycling Drop-Off!!

Free Recycling Drop-Off

Teaming up for change: that's what the Seneca County Recycling Department, the Seneca Meadows Landfill and WECARE Waste & Recycling, LLC are doing with a new recycling drop-off program. Recycling collection rates are not as high as they could be in Seneca County. The cause for which is uncertain, but one frustration, according to local residents, occurs when they miss a recycling pick-up day and the recyclables start to pile up. The new drop-off boxes stationed at the Seneca Meadows Landfill will give residents an opportunity to clear out their recyclables between pick-ups, and afford those who accumulate more than their four blue bin limit a place to take the extra recyclables.

The drop-off service is free to Seneca County residents and will begin on Monday, February 7, 2011 at the Seneca Meadows Landfill at their facility on Salcman Road, off of Route 414 in Waterloo. Drop-off hours are 6:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday through Friday, 6:00 - 11:30 am on Saturday, and 7:00 - 11:00 am on Sunday. The service is for residential recyclable materials only, and all participants must report to the scalehouse prior to unloading. For further information, call 315-539-5624.

The Seneca Meadows Education Center also offers free recycling education programs for community organizations. To learn more about these programs, or to schedule a presentation, call or e-mail at 315-539-5624, contact@senecameadows.com
